Building your wine cellar.

The process is simple: we listen, create and deliver. We personally review each site and space that comes to us to create a unique design for each situation. We take into account the physical space and our clients interests, and we inject creativity.

Throughout the project our clients can be assured of concise, direct and clear communication on important issues.

Discovery
The first thing we do is sit down and begin to understand your unique storage needs, collecting habits, and personal tastes. Whether you want a traditional European feel or a more contemporary look, our focus is on building a cellar you feel really is yours.

We can give you our initial observations about the space you want to remodel – or create – and talk in basic terms about what we think the project would require from a technical standpoint. Then we’ll listen to your design goals and use that information to put together an advisory report and a rough estimate for you.

If you’re building a cellar in a new home that is still in the planning stages, we can also meet with your architect or contractor and consult with them about the unique challenges of building a wine cellar and involve them in the design process.

Design
In this stage we collect all relevant measurements, take photographs, and solve the numerous technical challenges involved. We then generate a series of sketches, notes, and perhaps some type of technical drawing to create a custom design based on the surroundings and the input gleaned during our visits. Project specifications, timelines, and projected costs are then submitted to the client.

Our design matches your creative tastes with the materials and equipment necessary to age your wine under the very best conditions. It’s more than just the look of the enclosure that we manage; it’s important that the right materials are selected to maximize your ability to maintain the wine at the proper temperature and humidity levels.

Construction
When the drawings are done and it’s time to build, we also continue to refine and revaluate. A design is an important path to follow, but we regularly introduce ideas to our clients during moments of inspiration on-site. This open communication with clients is another exciting and engaging aspect of working with Fifty Five Degrees.

Once construction begins, we oversee all aspects of material selection, installation and construction. In addition to frequent site inspections, we acquaint ourselves with all contractors involved and work with them to make absolutely certain your cellar exceeds expectations.
